Update Monday, May 9th:
I wrote up a post detailed the start date of Chapter 3, and the state of things over at my Patreon (no worries, it should be open for everyone).
In short: Chapter 3 will begin on Monday, June 6th. The cover will be up in about 2 weeks. Sorry for the small break (my chronic pain roared back so it slowed me down).
See you then!
And that’s how a pun telling, crime solving trio came to be! Now they’re off to investigate more magical mysteries, probably with 50% fewer boats.
That is also the end of Chapter 2, and the first volume. I want to thank you all for reading, for those who were here from the beginning to those who just found AE. Really, comics would go nowhere without readers, so you’re all the best!
Now, for where that leaves us going forward, keep your eyes peeled here next week when I’ll announce a starting date for Chapter 3. A lot of the heavy lifting for it is done already, but I still need to sort out a few things before I dive into it. In the meantime, there’s sneak peeks at concept art for the chapter up at our tumblr, and more in depth behind-the-scenes previews for patrons at my Patreon.
See you next week everyone, and thank you again for reading!
]]>The happy ending we were all rooting for: Old Man Martinson and his boats. Finally!
Come back next week for the final page of the chapter/volume!
And if you need some art, I’ve restocked my Etsy store. Check it out!
]]>Don’t worry, Mariel, I’m sure it’ll all get figured out at some point.
See you all next week.
]]>Here we finally get a look at one of the Venetronus Order’s headquarters, Paraoth Sanctuary, a place that loves its waterfalls. And look! Everyone’s now clean and Jase has his good old uniform back (okay, he really got a new one, but it is clean).
While time consuming, it was fun to pull out some art deco-style architecture and design for this Sanctuary. Every one of them is different, although all tend to share the dark wood and gold color schemes.
Now we’re into the epilogue and only 3 more pages to go! See you next week.
]]>There goes the Mother’s Kiss, and Mason Manor with it. But the important thing is that most of them survived.
Next week will be the beginning of the epilogue, and then that’ll be it for the chapter and this first arc! See you then.
]]>Every once in a while you need a montage to fight a people-eating plant, y’know?
We’re really getting toward the end now, see you next week.
]]>I don’t think the plant is really liking the “Being Lit On Fire” plan.
Personally, my favorite panels here are Mariel and Jase’s magic tag-team, complete with sound effects.
Oh, Happy Vernal Equinox everyone! See you next week.
]]>Way to use that teamwork thing there, guys!
This, I think, was one of the most action-oriented pages yet, and I’m overall fairly happy with how it turned out.
Ugh, I’m still feeling that lost hour from Daylight Savings. Until next week, everyone!
]]>You gotta go after Jase, the guy was already tenderized by the plant.
See you next week when we find out if he becomes a munchy crunchy snack.
]]>Looks like Nolen found something good, at least.
I tried an entirely different process for coloring this page. I wasn’t that enthused with the results, so the upcoming pages are more of me adapting the technique closer to what makes me happy.
This Wednesday is my birthday! It always sneaks up on me now. Stealth birthdays. Anyway, my birthday wish is just that you come back next week for more of the thrilling conclusion! And maybe tell your friends about this neat comic you like?
